Circularity

We created FOTOFOTO to give disposable cameras a second (and third, fourth, fifth...) life. We developed a method for upcycling discarded camera cores into delightful cameras with improved functionality. We refurbish and recycle these cameras as many times as possible, responsibly disposing of parts when necessary.

The result? 2000 (and counting!) pounds of diverted electronic waste. Here's how we do it:

1. Collect Discarded Cores

We begin our process by collecting discarded disposable camera cores that would otherwise end up as waste in a landfill.

2. Integrate FOTOFOTO Tech

We integrate a proprietary printed circuit board into the disposable cameras we’ve collected. This addition equips the camera with a light sensor, transforming the manual flash into an automatic one, significantly reducing the likelihood of “blank” photos or bad lighting.

3. Assemble!

The high-tech cores are carefully placed in their new homes: the FOTOFOTO signature patterned ABS housing.

4. A New Beginning

Once assembled and ready for use, the cameras are boxed and shipped, primed to create new memories one foto at a time.

5. Cameras Return to Us

After their film has been spent, it's time for our cameras to return to us. Using the bubble mailer and return shipping label included in the original FOTOFOTO box, you mail your cameras back to us for development + processing.

6. Film Processing

We meticulously develop your photos ensuring the best quality possible. You then receive digital copies of your photos in 4-5 days.

7. Camera Quality Check

After the film has been removed, each camera undergoes a rigorous quality assessment. We scrutinize every component to ensure the cameras are in tip-top shape.

8/1. Cycle Restarts

Once they pass inspection, our cameras are reloaded with fresh film, re-assembled, and sent out to capture lots of more joyful moments. For you and for the planet.
